Man in Black

Man in Black > I’m just in a mood today. Ever get in a mood? Yesterday I ran all day. I knew I was running and wanted to slow down, but obligations would not allow. How did I get myself into this? ( I questioned myself.) But I could not stop. I had to see this day through. And now is the next day, and I’m in a mood. I don’t want my peace interrupted like that again. I know it will happen, but I don’t have to like it, and I will continue to resist as best I can, and maintain my REST in God.

You see, I know this world is against God’s Ways. And when I find I have allowed the world to trip me up, I get a little righteously angry at myself. And I make the devil regret trapping me, because I am reminded even more of how much I love my peaceful life in God focused on things that are really important. So today, I’m just enjoying God’s Presence and flowing in what will be today. But in this mood…ever since I compared Trump to a man in black and the Matrix movie, I’ve had a Johnny Cash song in my head to share. So I’m hitting the devil back today, with the lyrics to this song.

A lot of people are unaware of a few songs Johnny, the Man in Black, had that were very apocalyptic. Here are the lyrics to one such song: “When the Man comes Around”. It’s easy to google if you want to hear it. It’s a good one.

(INTRO) > And I heard as it were, the noise of thunder…one of the four beast saying, “Come and see.” And I saw, and behold a white horse.

(VERSE ONE) > There’s a man goin-round taken names. And he decides who to free and who to blame. Everybody won’t be treated all the same. There’ll be a golden ladder reachin’ down. When the man comes around.

(VERSE TWO) > The hairs on your arm will stand up. At the terror in each sip and each sup. Will you partake of that last offered cup? Or disappear into the potter’s ground? When the man comes around.

(CHORUS) > Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers. One hundred million angels singin. Multitudes are marchin to the big kettledrum. Voices callin’, voices cryin. Some are born and some are dyin. It’s Alpha and Omega’s kingdom come. And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree. The virgins are all trimming their wicks. The whirlwind is in the thorn tree. It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

(VERSE THREE) > Till Armageddon, no shalam, no shalom. Then the father hen will call his chickens home. The wise men will bow down before the throne. And at his feet, they’ll cast their golden crowns. When the man comes around.

(VERSE FOUR) > Whoever is unjust, let him be unjust still. Whoever is righteous, let him be righteous still. Whoever is filthy, let him be filthy still. Listen to the words long written down. When the man comes around.

(REPEAT CHORUS) Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers…..

It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks. In measured hundredweight and penny pound. When the man comes around.

(OUTRO) > And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beast. And I looked, and behold a pale horse. And his name that sat on him was Death. And Hell followed with him.

I guess it’s just the mood I’m in today. There’s meat in that song. Lions love meat. I’m feelin it today. And it feels good.

At age 69, my favorite thing to do is sharing God’s Word. Whether doing a reading, preaching, or teaching, it keeps the fire burning in my belly.
