Guard Your Anointing

Guard Your Anointing > Episode One > “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2nd Cor. 4:7 NLT)

The King James says, For we have this treasure in earthen vessels. The question I’m asking today is, do we realize the treasure we have and the treasure we are? It is a GREAT treasure from the Kingdom of God itself! And we are NEEDED in this earth. Providing…we have the treasure.

Jesus said if salt has lost its flavor, what good is it but to be cast out and trodden under foot? Guard your treasure from God!

The NLT version calls it a GREAT treasure and GREAT power. And with great power comes great responsibility. Once we are born-again there is really no reason for us to still be here except planet earth needs us. We’re no longer part of this kingdom of mortality. But the earth needs us because of what is residing in us. The Kingdom of God is within us! Power that fights decay is in us! Light that reveals hope in the darkness is within us! We are here to be what this planet needs! And God put His power in fragile pots! Whaaat?

Great are the mysteries of God. His wisdom is far above ours. But when we see His power active in our life, we know He is REAL! I cannot deny the difference prayer has made in my life, therefore, the One I’m praying to must be REAL, and His Word true. Every promise of His Word that we have been given to be salt and light in the earth. His Spirit reveals to us how to work the design God has put into His creation. A creation He spoke into existence with faith-filled words backed by the power of God! That’s the design, folks. Can we work it?

This great treasure in us is what the Bible refers to as the “anointing”. The anointing is an empowering from God, a calling from God, an assignment from God to us, through the power of the Holy Spirit to make a Kingdom of God difference in the earth! The devil fears the anointing! Guard your anointing!

The anointing signifies you have been chosen.

“In the same way all seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, ‘The Lord has not chosen any of these.” Then Samuel asked, ‘Are these all the sons you have?’”

“There is still the youngest.” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.”

“Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”

So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes.

And the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him.”

So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

Now the Spirit of the Lord had left Saul, and the Lord sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear. (1st Samuel 16: 10-14 NLT)

This treasure we have in earthen vessels, clay pots. Do we realize how easily a clay pot is broken? We think we are so tough until we are not. The Bible says FRAGILE pots. This is how we know the power is of God, and not us! If we sent a five year old out with a sword to fight lets say, Dwayne Johnson, we all know what would happen! But when that five year old suddenly takes Dwayne’s head off, we also know what has happened! And now the world is challenged to figure it out too! How did that child do that? Maybe they might see God!

But if we become the salt that has lost its power, God might as well take us on home. I will end episode one with a couple statements. 1.) When we are anointed, everything we do is supernatural. The natural, for us, has become the by-product of the supernatural. Our steps are ordered of the Lord! Our whole life has a supernatural flow to it.

2.) If you do not have a consistent and powerful prayer life, your anointing is greatly weakened, if not lost entirely. You’re operating more from your human mortality than your supernatural eternity. A supernatural prayer life is the key to all the blessings and powers of heaven. My house, my vessel, shall be known as a house of prayer, Jesus said. We have this treasure in earthen vessels! The Holy Spirit supernaturally transforms us to be more like Jesus in every way, every day. What did Jesus do? We are called. We are chosen. To go and do likewise.

Don’t say, I can’t do this. Because you are right. You, I, we, can’t! But the Spirit of God in us can! The treasure we carry around in this earth! For God so loves the world that He leaves His anointed vessels here so we can meet physical and spiritual NEEDS in this earth.

Don’t settle for an ordinary human life when you can walk in the ways of God. Learn those ways. Practice those ways. Be transformed. Become salt and light in the earth! Be the love and power of God in the earth.

They say America has become a Post-Christian country. They would love for us to believe that. Let’s prove them wrong! And lets start by getting one thing right, our power of faith and prayer! I believe if our prayers are right, if our prayer life is right, everything else will grow from there! Satan cannot stop the seeds of a powerful prayer life. Prayer either gets everything else in our life right, or we stop praying. Don’t stop praying! Have faith! Be the anointed vessel God has called us to be. Be David, not Saul. And like in the days of David, the Ark of the Covenant can be in America again! Amen!

A final note: L7D…Living in the 7th Day…living in the supernatural REST God has for us, requires a supernatural prayer life. We do our work by prayer and faith. Not by our sweat. Before the curse, as Adam lived in God’s REST, he never broke a sweat. Spiritually speaking, we don’t have to sweat anymore. Praise our Lord for giving us the POWER to know His REST! What a TREASURE!

    1. Job is the perfect example of L7D. No matter how bad it got, he did not freak out, and he just kept seeking God. He knew there was no place else to go, but God. He was complete surrender. Thanks for the comment! Very good example!

At age 69, my favorite thing to do is sharing God’s Word. Whether doing a reading, preaching, or teaching, it keeps the fire burning in my belly.
