“The Way” and Christianity. Episode #3 > Religion hates “the Way”.
True Christianity loves “the Way”, but religion hates it. “The Way” is of “relationship”, not religion. While Saul was a religious Jewish zealot, he hunted and persecuted the people of “the Way”. But once he had a personal encounter with Jesus, he entered into a living “relationship” with Christ and became a lover and teacher of “the Way”. And the religious began hunting him.
True Christianity is all about a living relationship with God through Christ. It’s not about a bunch of rules and regulations. Those are for people not led of the Way. Once our heart is changed we are led of the Spirit of God in all things, we no longer need a list of rules. It is a Way of living. It is THE Way of living. But discipline and desire are required to grow in the Way of our Lord. Our ability to “hear” or “know” God’s leading for us is of utmost importance! And yes, there is a discipline involved. The discipline of getting quiet enough, and walking close enough to hear God for yourself.
After the Saul of religion became the Paul of godly relationship, then he found himself being persecuted by the very religious people he had been a part of. How ironic. That religious spirit will turn on anyone who becomes of “the Way”. They hate our freedom in Christ.
Paul is defending himself in court, once again, when he makes this declaration… “Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me. But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect (cult), so I worship the God of my fathers,” … (Acts 24:13)
This is yet another place in which the early Christians were being called “the Way”. Paul is about to get off scott free because his accusers have no proof. But then he freely confesses he has become one of the Way! One of the people of whom the religious leaders were calling a cult!
“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12) So how do we find our way? One way seems right to us, but another way is the right way.
It is only by relationship. How can two walk together except they are in agreement? How can we hear except we are walking together? Hearing is so important! Do we know His voice?
The Prophet Samuel made a powerful statement to King Saul when God was about to take the kingdom away from King Saul, because he listened to men rather than God. Samuel said, “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed (hear) better than the fat of rams.” (1st Samuel 15:22)
I find it so interesting that Samuel was detailed enough to add “and to hear”. For how can we obey what we have not heard? “The Way” is about a personal close walk with the Lover of your Soul. It is supernatural in nature. It takes us into the supernatural. Living OUR way takes us out of it. It requires some learning, practice, training. It is a Way of living in which our soul motivates us to live by certain powerful disciplines and knowledge the world does not recognize. It is our spiritual Kung Fu. I Kung Fu my Bible. It is how I love to live. And then I watch what God does. I get to be a part of it.
So…I have a tremendous story of exactly what I mean by all this. A story that only recently happened and is now in full supernatural territory as to where it is going to end up. This is an ongoing story, but enough has already happened to have plenty to share. This is so much a story of L7D! As a matter of fact, L7D will be taught from this very half burned down place!
Next article will begin this story, but I will leave you with a picture. Fire trucks from four townships were here working to put out the fire! The question now becomes, what will God raise out of these ashes? Can these bones live? I believe they can! And actually, already have begun to do so! Learn to be a Godwalker and the rest will take care of itself. Just ask Enoch. Amen.
