Whose Yardstick?

What is the measurement of the wingspan in that picture? How can we know? Take a measurement? What would happen if two carpenters were using two different measurements to build the same house? Let’s say one carpenter is in the house yelling out measurements to another outside, who then uses a different measuring device of different markings to cut the wood and pass it inside. What I’m saying is, they have two different standards of measurement that do not agree. One is measuring inside the house, the other on the outside measures the board by a different ruler. What if we had no set standard of measurement? Not only would it be extremely frustrating, but nothing would fit! Complete chaos! Nobody is going to buy that house! John Adams said, >

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” (John Adams) So now what do we do? Our goose is cooked! Are we still such a people?

Are we still a moral and religious people? By whose measurement, and by what yardstick? Is the Bible still our yardstick? Is it modern media? Is it science? Is it our government? Each individual? What happens if we can no longer agree on a standard for measurement, which in fact we obviously do not! And according to Adams, only one yardstick actually works.

I find myself standing at the edge of a great chasm. I look across this deep dark and wide gulf, a gap that seems to be growing wider all the time. Someone on the other side, a fellow American, says we can no longer define what a man or a woman is. I say, “Whaaat?” My brain suddenly hurts!

And no matter what I say to that person, they do not agree with my yardstick. They have some other standard of measure, a standard that makes no sense to me, and in “no way” can I agree with, because I am a moral and religious person, which means the Bible is my yardstick!

John Adams would have been referring to the Bible. I’m the kind of person the Constitution was designed for, according to John Adams! My tribe agrees with our founding fathers. And their definition of male or female would be same as mine. We have the same yardstick. But the other side does not.

And you know, Adam’s words makes sense. That understanding explains a lot. Will America survive as the Constitutional Republic our founding fathers gave us? They are the very ones who said it would only work with a moral and religious people. Hollywood is one of our biggest pulpits today, with a huge following! Is Hollywood preaching the Bible, religion, and morality? Are they shinning examples of Christianity and morality? Do elephants fly? Why have we taken the Ten Commandments out of our schools? It is the rejecting of a certain yardstick.

I think we do well to first admit we got a serious problem before us that could be fatal if we don’t somehow get back to the original standard of honor. This government won’t work with those of the other tribe. It will only fail! It seems that is what they want. Their yardstick says differently. But where there is little morality, lies run rampant. The yardstick lies.

So what can we do? They say it is not a baby, it’s just a mass of tissue that just happens to look like a tiny baby. It’s not murder. It’s every woman’s (God-given?) right? Again, my brain hurts trying to understand their mental gymnastics. My yardstick burns with heat, like the bush Moses stood before. How hot will things get before the end comes?

These are just a couple of examples that are the easiest to understand. We could list many. Illegal aliens voting. Homosexuality. What is a lie and what is truth? What is racism and what is not. On and on the list will go and we have no acceptable standard to measure by.

And so… whoever wins the most power, by hook or crook, gets to choose the yardstick, whether it will destroy our Constitution or not. Who cares? We of the other yardstick do! We happen to like our freedoms and do not want to end up a Socialist on way to being Communist! Don’t you understand?

The answer comes back, “No.” What you said does not compute.

John Adams said, and Benjamin Franklin too, when he said, we have given you a Republic, if you can keep it. They were saying, immorality and godlessness would be the destruction of what we have given you. By their own statements, anyone of the other yardstick would be out to destroy this country. What can we do? They say we are the ones destroying. We are nothing but haters. So says their yardstick.

The Bible, Judeo Christianity was the yardstick that gave us America. Today, half our people no longer accept that standard of measurement. Even this last election showed a popular vote pretty evenly divided. If the Socialist Yardstick ever gets back in power, it will be back to the four years we just had. How many times can America withstand being torn in two different directions? We must not lose the power again!

The danger is too great. Our forefathers pointed out what would be our destruction if we did. We honor our founding fathers by heeding their words and being good stewards of this great Republic. Now surely that is right by any standard! Isn’t it? To honor the very ones who founded this country? How can any socialist agenda in America be honorable or right? How can we violate our forefathers so violently and call it good? Somehow we got to come together with the understanding to seek out the old ways, where the good path is.

Our Constitution was made ONLY for a moral and religious people. It is WHOLLY inadequate to the government of any other.

Wholly inadequate. If we cannot figure out how to bridge this measurement gap, we are the Titanic. We are a bridge too far. We simply got to find a way. How can any yardstick other than the builders our country be right? They understood this from the very beginning.
