“Then Jesus said, ‘Come unto me,’” > The journey to Jesus. How do we know when we have arrived? He said He would give us REST. In our experience, have we found that to be true? If not, then we have not yet arrived at the secret place He has for every one of His true followers. And He won’t REST until we have! His Holy Spirit in us, will not REST until we have. Our Lord constantly intercedes for us.
“Come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you REST.” It is not a rest as the world gives. It is a supernatural REST. I call it L7D. Living in the 7th Day, our Lord’s Sabbath, in which we cease from our own works to rely fully in His, which then births a PEACE in us that is beyond understanding. So I won’t try. LOL. I simply REST. Got it?
Sounds like a wonderful place to live, does it not? It is REAL. It is the place of our own death! Whaaat? REST in PEACE, as they say. For followers of Christ death is not a bad thing. It’s actually great spiritual growth! When we have fallen so much in love with our Lord and His peaceful ways that all we want is to dwell in His will, not our own; His presence, not our own. The more our flesh is crucified, the less wrestling we contend with and the more REST.
Again, when death of our body comes, for a true follower of Christ it is not really a bad thing. We are sad that we are leaving loved ones, but look where we’re going! Our earthly work is finally done, and we can enjoy the House of the Lord forever! Oh death, where is your sting? Oh grave, where is your victory? For in Christ we live, and breathe, and have our being! We live! PEACE be unto you!
God’s Word tells us to turn our worries and concerns into prayers. You don’t know what to pray about? Well… first of all, thank God for all of the good things in your life. Be grateful. Once we have approached Him in a proper way, now ask yourself, what is robbing me of my REST? What is robbing me of my PEACE? What am I worried about and wrestling with? What am I having trouble letting go of and trusting God with? Turn those things into your prayers!
Follow your earnest prayer with walking by faith and not by sight. Pray as many times as you need to! Daily! Remind God like the widow lady did. But each time, after prayer, walk by faith and not by sight. You are in the secret place of complete trust and obedience to His Word, like a child, HIS child!
This is a powerful place to live. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. The enemy has not gone away. He might be shouting all kinds of fearful things at us. But we are the Lord’s BRIDE! Are we living in that knowledge? If we married God for protection, is there any other force that can touch us? If we married God for provision, is there any force that can rob us?
Of course we married God for love. For God so loved us and we finally loved Him back. But never forget all His benefits we married into in His Name! His Word tells us to not forget His benefits! Not one of them! And enjoy perfect PEACE and REST.
“Come unto me,” Jesus said, “And I will give you REST.” If that is not yet our experience, then we have more to find. Seek, and keep on seeking, and you shall find. Make it your prayer. Jesus said He would teach us! It’s all in Matthew 11: 28-30. Learn from Him to pray and believe. Learn from Him to let go, obey, and let God. He said He would teach us. What greater teacher could we have?
Bless the Lord, oh my soul. And all that is within me, bless His holy Name.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget none of His BENEFITS.
Who forgives all of my sins.
Who heals all of my diseases.
Who redeems my life from destruction, and crowns me with loving kindness and tender mercies.
Who fills my mouth with good things, so that my youth is renewed like the eagle.
Welcome to the secret place. Welcome to His supernatural. L7D. Add Psalms 91 to that and be at PEACE. It seems to me a large percentage of our stress and no rest comes from pursuing more than we should. We get caught up in earthly things, but Jesus will teach us how to be free. We have laid heavy burdens of our own desires on ourselves. May we be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus. Teach us your ways, oh Lord. Teach us your peace. AMEN.
